India Global Business Staff

With a growing appetite for Bollywood and Indian stars, China has opened up as a potential hotbed for the Indian film industry. Celebrity management firm Kwan Entertainment has become the first such Indian company to enter China in partnership with local company E Stars Films. Kwan has signed an exclusive, long-term business association with E Stars CEO Allen Liu, who distributed films including 'Dangal,' 'Secret Superstar' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijan' that became hits in China and made Aamir Khan and Salman Khan household names. Madhu Mantena, co-founder of Kwan, said: “We could have not hoped for a better partner than Allen, who has tirelessly worked for expanding the Indian film market in China for the past 5 years.” Kwan wants to open up a new market for the Indian talent pool in China. Vijay Subramaniam, CEO, Kwan, said: “The growth of Indian entertainment in China cannot be ignored. The opportunities for Indian talent that Chinese businesses offer are also usually more lucrative. It became a natural step for us to follow these opportunities and ensure we help our clients capitalise on them effectively.”
