Cloud services firm Appirio, a Wipro acquired entity, has opened a new office in Porto, Portugal to expand its European operations and meet growing demand in the region. Appirio, which provides cloud-based services that help organisations create next-generation worker and customer experiences, is considered one of the key acquisitions of Wipro to strengthen digital technology services. It helps partners integrate cloud-based software such as Workday, Medallia and Salesforce into their business areas across customer service, marketing, operations and order management. The firm started contributing to Wipro's overall revenue faster. The new office houses a Commerce Cloud Digital Centre of Excellence, a delivery centre and an innovation hub. The company will hire local talent both laterally and from universities for delivery roles such as functional consultants, technical leads and integration architects, said Wipro in a press release. Apart from Porto, Appirio has offices in Amsterdam, Dublin, London, Paris, and Stockholm. Erik Duffield, Global Business Head - Appirio Cloud Services, was quoted as saying: "Europe offers a great opportunity for Appirio. Our new office in Porto reflects our growth, development and investment in Europe. The team in Porto allows us to serve our growing customers based in this region and support our partners better. We will be hiring local talent and be actively involved in building and sustaining technology growth in Porto and surrounding communities.”

In a move that renewed hope in India’s civil aviation circles, and sent waves of optimism in business circles, the Tata Group acquired beleaguered national carrier Air India for $2.4 billion last week. The transaction will be completed by December 2021.
