India Inc. hosted its second annual Digital India Conclave to evaluate the success of this ambitious agenda and delve deeper into the challenges that remain. Amitabh Kant, Secretary in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion's (DIPP) and the man behind the Make in India vision, gave an impassioned address on how technological advances are conquering some of India's problems at the mega event in New Delhi. He said he was confident that “India can become the easiest place to do business by using tech” and that sectors like manufacturing were already showing radical improvements as a result of the Indian government's Make in India drive. “I predict the Indian e-commerce market by the end of this decade will be $100 billion,” he said. The event was covered live by Bloomberg TV and backed by some of India Inc.'s key supporters including BDO, CISCO, McKinsey & Company, SD2Labs and Shoto, 10000 Start-ups and Spectranet. It brought together a high-profile panel of experts and policy experts. Founder & CEO of India Inc. Manoj Ladwa opened the power-packed session: “The aim is to not only use some of the learning to feed into our discussions here but also to create the right platform for long-term impact on government policy and delivery processes.” The conclave was followed by India Inc.'s inaugural India Innovation Dinner, bringing together some of the best minds in India, across disciplines, to explore how innovation can solve some of the real problems such as poverty alleviation and smart cities, among others.
